I stayed in one of the spacious, clean and comfortable rooms for 3 nights. The bed and matras are the biggest and best I've had so far in india. The shower (with hot water) is delightfull and the view over the banana plantation and the mountain tops are great. There is a nice balcony where you can enjoy the fresh mountain air and nice temperature after a long day. It's has a great central location in town but is a little bit tucked away from the main road. Last but not least: Sha Ji is a wonderful manager with a very kind and warm heart. He welcomed me with so much pleasure and gave me tips and suggestions to do in this area. Always willing to help and always offering help in any way! I would rate this place higher then is possible thus I would recommend it to everyone who is considering to come to kumily!

Wherever I go in India I am told I must go to Kerala. I must go where the hills are green and the rains make the forests lush. Wherever I go I'm told I must go to see the wild animals and the elephants, the trees and the plants. I must go where India is at it's most beautiful. I am told it will be worth it. With my hopes raised of finding tropical paradise I found my way to Sha Ji's home the Jungle Bells residency. How fortunate I was to find myself here in the little town of Kumily in the Western Ghats. How lucky I was to discover all the natural beauty I had been promised. How the stars aligned that I found not just the natural world but human friendship. Never have I been welcomed with such generosity and rarely have good friends been made so quickly. I am at home here thanks to the kindness and good nature of the people. We can sit and pass the time with complete ease whether the sun is shining or the monsoons pouring. I hope I will be back soon.

Came to thekkady afternoon. We had planned going to Periyar Tiger Reserve eventually. Even in a hurry we pleased with the ambience and the sceneries from balcony. Rooms are superb, spacious bath rooms, clean and tidy Beds. After visiting the reserve, we came back and most of the attractions such as Kalari Martial Art Show, Kathak shows are near by among many restaurants along the road. This homestay is situated exactly to cover them all. Manager is so freindly too... wonderful place to stay..

We had a nice and quiet stay at Jungle Bells Homestay in November 2014. The rooms are simple but very clean and neat. Our balcony was overlooking a lush banana plantation at the back of the building. The owner of the resort arranged an experienced guide for us, who took us around in his rickshaw to show us not only the touristic but the off the beaten track side of Thekkady, Kumily and the surrounding area. After consultation we took traditional Ayurvedic massages within the home stay's premises. There is also a beauty parlour and a supermarket within the same complex. Local restaurants and shops are all very near to the hotel, the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is a short drive away. If you are looking for a neat and convenient accommodation with personalised services at an affordable rate this property is highly recommended.
